You can also support the work of the South West Legal Support Trust who offer a calendar of fundraising events to take part in as individuals or groups.
Avon and Bristol Law Centre is a small charity with a big range of skilled volunteering opportunities.
Our Legal Advocacy Support Project (LASP) with volunteer law students won ‘Pro Bono Initiative of the Year’ at the National Lawyer Awards in 2016. Around 20 local law firms provide Pro Bono support which enables us to offer regular free law clinics to people with issues that are not eligible for legal aid. We are very grateful to the volunteer solicitors who donate time and skills worth over £30,000 a year. If you are a qualified solicitor and would like to offer your expertise and experience, please email us or complete this enquiry form.
Our tenancy project also trains law students to offer information on legal rights of those renting their home.
Solicitors please also see our Lawyers in the Community page for details of law clinics you can support.
Other volunteers with an interest in social justice help with events, fundraising, IT, policy and research, translation and ensuring that vulnerable people can gain access to justice. Please check our Current Vacancies to see if there are roles that appeal to you. Alternatively email us or complete this enquiry form.
Our Trustees are drawn from the charity’s membership and use their experience to support the charity on a long-term, voluntary basis. Trustees lead the charity’s strategic direction and work closely with our team of staff and volunteers. Trustees represent our community and champion the needs of people facing disadvantage. If you have life skills or professional experience that you would like to contribute to our existing board, please check the Current Vacancies page to see if there are specific board roles we are looking to fill, then either email us or complete this enquiry form.
Join a community of people who care about access to justice. Members help to shape the charity’s work and our Board of Trustees is drawn from our membership. Membership is free of charge to encourage any individual who values access to justice to join. We welcome people who have been helped by the Law Centre and can share their experiences.
The Law Centre has been part of the local community for over 30 years. We welcome other local voluntary and community groups to join as members, especially those who work closely with us to support people who are disadvantaged and at risk of exclusion.
