Mental Health Advice
The Law Centre provides free, independent advice and representation to patients and others affected by mental health law. We can advise patients about their rights under mental health law either in hospital or in the community and whether they are detained or informal patients.
We can advise and represent on all areas of mental health law including:
- Mental Health Tribunals (MHTs)
- Managers’ Hearings
- Nearest Relative
- After care
- Transfer
- Training
- Consultancy
Our service covers the Avon and Wiltshire and Gloucestershire Mental Health Trust areas. We can also travel to other locations in certain circumstances. We have a Legal Services Commission contract to provide advice, assistance and representation in mental health law. Applications to the MHT are not means tested.
